Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef or ground turkey
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
- ¾ cup ketchup
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp yellow mustard
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 (16 oz) package egg noodles, cooked and drained
- Optional add-ins: Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, frozen corn, black beans, diced tomatoes
Instructions
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown ground beef with chopped onion and green bell pepper until meat is no longer pink and vegetables are tender. Drain excess fat.
- In a bowl, mix tomato sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, yellow mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper until combined.
- Add cooked beef and veggies to slow cooker. Pour sauce over and stir to combine.
- Cover and cook on low for 3–4 hours to meld flavors.
- About 30 minutes before serving, stir in cooked egg noodles and half the shredded cheddar cheese.
- Sprinkle remaining cheese on top, cover, and cook until cheese melts completely.
- Serve warm, optionally garnished with parsley or scallions.
Notes
Brown meat before slow cooking for best flavor and texture. Add noodles near end to avoid sogginess. Customize with optional add-ins like beans or hot sauce. Store leftovers refrigerated up to 4–5 days or freeze for longer storage.
