Description
An incredibly easy and elegant 5-ingredient appetizer featuring crispy baguette, smoky Gouda, and sweet-tart apples, ready in under 20 minutes.
Ingredients
1 baguette, thinly sliced (about 1/2 inch thick)
2 tbsp olive oil
6 oz smoked Gouda cheese, thinly sliced or shredded
1 Honeycrisp apple, thinly sliced
1 tbsp fresh thyme leaves, chopped
1-2 tbsp honey (optional, for drizzling)
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Arrange baguette slices on a baking sheet.
Step 2: Lightly brush each baguette slice with olive oil. Bake for 5-7 minutes, or until lightly golden and crispy. Remove from oven.
Step 3: While the baguette toasts, thinly slice the smoked Gouda cheese and Honeycrisp apple.
Step 4: Top each toasted baguette slice with a piece of smoked Gouda, followed by a thin slice of apple.
Step 5: Return the crostini to the oven and bake for another 3-5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Step 6: Remove from oven, sprinkle with fresh thyme leaves, and drizzle lightly with honey, if desired. Serve immediately.
Notes
For best results, serve these crostini warm, straight from the oven, when the cheese is perfectly melted and gooey. You can prepare the baguette and cheese slices in advance, but assemble and bake just before serving for ultimate freshness and crispness.
