Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 large egg, room temperature
1 tablespoon fresh orange zest
2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
2 tablespoons fresh orange juice (for glaze)


Instructions

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
Step 2: Whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
Step 3: Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 3-5 minutes).
Step 4: Mix in the egg, orange zest, orange juice, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Step 5: Gradually blend in the dry flour mixture until just combined; do not overmix.
Step 6: Scoop 1.5-inch balls of dough and place them on the baking sheets, spaced 2 inches apart.
Step 7: Bake for 8-10 minutes until the edges are set but the centers are still soft.
Step 8: Let cool on the pan for 5 minutes, then move to a wire rack to cool completely.
Step 9: Whisk powdered sugar and orange juice together and drizzle over the cooled cookies.
