Description

A sweet and buttery Southern classic featuring caramelized bananas baked into a fluffy, golden cake-like crust.

Ingredients

Scale

8 large ripe bananas, sliced
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup whole milk
1 tbsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tbsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup light brown sugar

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F and melt the butter in a 9x13 inch baking dish in the oven.
Step 2: Whisk flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add milk and vanilla and stir until just combined.
Step 3: Pour batter over the melted butter in the hot dish; do not stir.
Step 4: Arrange banana slices over the batter evenly.
Step 5: Sprinkle the mixture of brown sugar and cinnamon over the bananas.
Step 6: Bake for 45 minutes until the crust is golden and the center is set.
Step 7: Allow to cool slightly before serving with vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Ensure bananas are spotted for best sugar content; serve warm for best texture.
