Description

Ingredients

4 cups powdered sugar

2 tbsp heavy cream
Blue gel food coloring
1 tbsp cocoa powder
1.5 tbsp vanilla extract (for speckling)


Instructions

Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F and prepare three 8-inch round cake pans.
Step 2: Sift dry ingredients including flour, baking powder, and salt.
Step 3: Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Step 4: Add eggs one at a time, followed by vanilla.
Step 5: Alternately add dry ingredients and milk to the mixer.
Step 6: Bake for 25-30 minutes and cool completely on wire racks.
Step 7: Make buttercream by beating butter, sugar, and cream; tint blue with gel coloring.
Step 8: Stack and frost the cake, applying a crumb coat then a final smooth layer.
Step 9: Mix cocoa and vanilla extract to create a liquid speckling paint.
Step 10: Use a brush to flick the cocoa mixture onto the cake for the speckled effect.
