Description

Stuffed seafood bread bowls are a decadent blend of rich, creamy textures and savory seafood flavor—all nestled inside a crusty, edible vessel. This dish combines shrimp, crab meat, cream cheese, and mozzarella for a satisfying bite every time.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ lb shrimp, peeled, deveined, and chopped
  • ½ lb lump crab meat or imitation crab
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup diced onion
  • ½ cup diced red bell pepper
  • 1 tsp Old Bay seasoning
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large round loaf of bread (preferably sourdough or Italian)
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice off the top of the bread loaf and hollow out the inside, leaving about ¾ inch thickness.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  4. Sauté diced onion, red bell pepper, and minced garlic until softened, about 3–4 minutes.
  5. Add chopped shrimp and cook until pink, about 2–3 minutes.
  6. Stir in lump crab meat, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and pepper; cook for 1 more minute. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  7. In a large bowl, mix cream cheese, mayonnaise, sour cream, mozzarella, Parmesan, and chopped parsley until smooth.
  8. Gently fold the seafood mixture into the cheese base until well combined.
  9. Spoon the creamy seafood filling into the hollowed bread bowl, pressing gently but not overfilling.
  10. Optionally place the reserved bread top over the filling and sprinkle with extra cheese.
  11. Place the filled bread bowl on a baking sheet and bake for 20–25 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  12. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

Use a sturdy bread like sourdough to prevent sogginess. Save removed bread chunks for dipping. Adjust seasoning and cheese amounts to taste.
