Description

A three-layer masterpiece featuring a soft sponge, rich vanilla custard, and fresh glazed strawberries.


Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
3 large eggs
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 cup whole milk
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp cornstarch
1 quart fresh strawberries
1/4 cup apricot preserves


Instructions

Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9-inch springform pan.
Step 2: Cream butter and sugar until fluffy, then beat in eggs and vanilla.
Step 3: Alternately mix in flour and milk until a smooth batter forms.
Step 4: Bake for 30 minutes, then cool the sponge completely.
Step 5: Whisk milk, sugar, and cornstarch over heat to create a thick custard.
Step 6: Spread custard over the cake and top with sliced strawberries.
Step 7: Brush with melted apricot preserves and chill before serving.
