Ingredients
1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 cup unsalted butter (softened)
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tablespoon strawberry jam or puree
1-2 teaspoons milk
Red or pink food coloring (optional)
Sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
Step 2: Whisk the melted butter and granulated sugar in a medium bowl until smooth.
Step 3: Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
Step 4: Sift in the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder, then fold together until just combined.
Step 5: Spread the batter into the pan and bake for 20-25 minutes until a toothpick comes out with a few crumbs.
Step 6: Cool completely, then use a heart-shaped cutter to create the brownies.
Step 7: Mix the softened butter, powdered sugar, jam, and milk to create the frosting.
Step 8: Frost each heart and top with sprinkles if desired.
Notes
For the cleanest heart shapes, freeze the brownies for 30 minutes before cutting.
