Ingredients
- Unsalted butter (room temperature)
- Sugar
- Egg
- Egg yolk
- Vanilla extract
- Almond extract
- Flour
- Baking powder
- Baking soda
- Salt
- Freeze-dried strawberries
- Powdered sugar
- Lemon juice (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13 inch pan with parchment paper and grease sides.
- Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg, egg yolk, vanilla, and almond extract; mix well.
- Whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt separately. Gradually add to wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Press dough evenly into prepared pan.
- Bake 16-20 minutes until edges are lightly golden and toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool completely on wire rack.
- Beat butter and vanilla for frosting. Add lemon juice and crushed freeze-dried strawberries.
- Gradually mix in powdered sugar until spreadable consistency is reached.
- Spread frosting evenly over cooled bars. Optionally top with fresh strawberries or sprinkles.
Notes
Avoid over-baking to keep bars soft. Adjust frosting thickness with milk or powdered sugar as needed. Chill frosted bars before cutting for clean slices.
