Description
A crunchy, open-faced fusion of zesty taco beef and melted cheese on toasted artisanal bread.
Ingredients
1 lb lean ground beef
1 packet (1 oz) taco seasoning
8 slices thick sourdough or Texas toast
2 cups shredded Mexican blend cheese
1/2 cup salsa of choice
1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
1/2 cup diced tomatoes
1/4 cup sour cream
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat the broiler to low and line a baking sheet with parchment.
Step 2: Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until fully cooked; drain fat.
Step 3: Add taco seasoning and 1/4 cup water to the beef, simmering until the liquid is absorbed.
Step 4: Lightly toast bread slices under the broiler for 1 minute per side.
Step 5: Spread a tablespoon of salsa on each toast slice, then top with a portion of beef.
Step 6: Sprinkle cheese generously over the beef and broil for 2 minutes until melted.
Step 7: Garnish with lettuce, tomatoes, and sour cream before serving.
Notes
Use a sturdy bread like sourdough to prevent sogginess. Add jalapeños for extra spice!
