Description

A nostalgic and creamy tater tot casserole recipe featuring seasoned ground beef, a rich mushroom sauce, and a perfectly crunchy potato topping.

Ingredients

Scale

2 lbs ground beef (85/15)
1 small yellow onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup whole milk
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 cups frozen corn or mixed vegetables
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
Step 2: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef and diced onions until the beef is fully cooked. Drain the excess fat.
Step 3: Stir in the minced garlic, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
Step 4: Reduce heat to low and stir in the condensed cream of mushroom soup and milk until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
Step 5: Fold in the frozen vegetables and spread the entire beef mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
Step 6: Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single, even layer over the top of the beef mixture.
Step 7: Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until the tater tots are golden brown and the sauce is bubbling around the edges.
Step 8: Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top and bake for an additional 5 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Step 9: Remove from the oven and let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra crispy tots, ensure they are not touching too much and avoid covering the dish with foil during the baking process.
