A decadent and moist chocolate cake layered with rich salted caramel, crunchy toasted pecans, and chocolate chips.
Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 ½ cups granulated sugar
½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
1 cup whole milk
½ cup vegetable oil
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1 cup boiling water
1 cup salted caramel sauce
1 cup toasted pecans, chopped
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch cake pans.
Step 2: Whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
Step 3: Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla; beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
Step 4: Stir in boiling water by hand until combined (batter will be thin).
Step 5: Pour batter into pans and bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
Step 6: Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then move to a wire rack to cool completely.
Step 7: Layer the cake with caramel sauce, pecans, and chocolate chips between layers and on top.
Notes
Ensure the boiling water is added last to bloom the cocoa for the most intense chocolate flavor.
