Description
A classic triple-decker sandwich featuring toasted bread, savory deli meats, crispy bacon, fresh vegetables, and creamy mayonnaise.
Ingredients
3 slices sturdy bread (white or whole wheat)
1/2 tablespoon butter, softened
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
2-3 leaves romaine lettuce
2-3 slices ripe tomato
Pinch of salt
Pinch of black pepper
2-3 slices crispy cooked bacon
1 slice cheddar cheese
2 slices thinly sliced deli turkey
2 slices thinly sliced deli ham
Instructions
Step 1: Toast three slices of bread until golden brown and lightly crispy. While still warm, spread a thin layer of butter on both sides of each toasted slice.
Step 2: Take the first slice of toasted bread and spread a generous layer of mayonnaise on one side. Lay fresh romaine lettuce leaves and thinly sliced tomato on top of the mayo. Season lightly with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
Step 3: Arrange 2-3 slices of crispy bacon over the tomato layer.
Step 4: Place the second slice of toasted bread directly on top of the bacon layer. Spread mayonnaise on both sides of this slice. Add a slice of cheddar cheese, then layer with thinly sliced turkey and ham.
Step 5: Spread mayonnaise on one side of the third toasted bread slice. Carefully place this slice mayo-side down on top of the turkey and ham layer, completing your triple-decker sandwich.
Step 6: To serve, secure the sandwich by inserting four toothpicks through the layers, typically one in each corner. Carefully cut the sandwich into four triangles. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
For extra flavor, consider toasting your bread in a pan with a little butter instead of a toaster for an unbeatable texture. You can also experiment with different types of cheese or add a touch of mustard for an extra kick.
