Description
A decadent sandwich featuring a generous helping of crispy bacon nestled between three types of gooey, melted cheese and perfectly toasted bread.
Ingredients
4 slices sturdy bread (sourdough, brioche, or white bread)
4-6 slices crispy cooked bacon
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened, or mayonnaise
1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
Instructions
Step 1: Cook the bacon to your desired crispness. You can pan-fry it over medium-low heat or bake it in the oven. Once cooked, transfer to a paper-towel-lined plate to drain excess fat. Set aside.
Step 2: Shred all three types of cheese if not already shredded. Combining them in a bowl makes assembly easier.
Step 3: Butter one side of each slice of bread generously (or spread with mayonnaise). This will be the outside of your sandwich.
Step 4: Place two slices of bread, buttered-side down, into a large skillet or on a griddle over medium-low heat. Immediately layer about half of the mixed cheese onto each slice.
Step 5: Distribute the crispy bacon evenly over the cheese on both slices. Then, top with the remaining half of the mixed cheese.
Step 6: Place the remaining two slices of bread on top, buttered-side up, completing the sandwiches. Gently press down.
Step 7: Cook for 5-7 minutes per side, or until the bread is golden brown and crispy, and the cheese is fully melted and gooey. Adjust heat as needed to prevent burning. If the cheese isn't melting fast enough, you can cover the pan for a minute or two to trap heat.
Step 8: Once cooked, carefully remove the sandwiches from the skillet. Let them rest for a minute or two before slicing in half and serving immediately. Enjoy your Triple Cheese Bacon Explosion!
Notes
For an extra kick, add a thin layer of Dijon mustard or a sprinkle of red pepper flakes to the inside of the sandwich before grilling. Consider using different cheese combinations like smoked gouda or Swiss for varied flavor profiles.
