Description

A foolproof recipe for soft, fluffy pita bread with perfect pockets made entirely in your air fryer.

Ingredients

Scale

3 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup warm water (110°F)
2 tsp active dry yeast
1 tsp granulated sugar
1.5 tsp salt
2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

Instructions

Step 1: Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl and let sit for 10 minutes until frothy.
Step 2: Add olive oil, salt, and 2 cups of flour. Mix by hand or with a dough hook.
Step 3: Gradually add the remaining flour and knead for 8 minutes until smooth.
Step 4: Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1.5 hours in a warm spot.
Step 5: Punch down dough and divide into 8 balls. Let rest for 15 minutes.
Step 6: Roll each ball into a 6-inch circle about 1/4 inch thick.
Step 7: Preheat air fryer to 400°F. Cook each pita for 3 minutes, flip, and cook for 1-2 more minutes.
Step 8: Wrap immediately in a clean towel to maintain softness.

Notes

Ensure your air fryer is fully preheated to ensure the pitas puff up correctly.
