Description

A giant, flaky, and soft hybrid treat combining the best of scones and cookies with a vibrant citrus glaze.


Ingredients

Scale

3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
1 large egg
1/2 cup heavy cream, chilled
2 tablespoons fresh orange zest
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 cup powdered sugar
2-3 tablespoons fresh orange juice


Instructions

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
Step 2: Whisk the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
Step 3: Cut the cold butter into the flour using a pastry blender until coarse crumbs form.
Step 4: Whisk the egg, heavy cream, orange zest, and vanilla in a small bowl.
Step 5: Gently fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined.
Step 6: Scoop 1/4 cup portions onto the baking sheets and bake for 15-18 minutes until golden.
Step 7: Mix powdered sugar and orange juice for the glaze and drizzle over the cooled cookies.

Notes

Ensure all dairy and fat ingredients are very cold to maintain the flaky scone texture.
