Description

A creamy, zesty, and spicy homemade Cajun ranch dressing that's perfect for salads, dips, and elevating almost any dish. This easy recipe brings a taste of the South to your kitchen.

Ingredients

Scale

1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup sour cream
1/4 cup buttermilk
1 tablespoon fresh dill, finely chopped
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
1 tablespoon fresh chives, finely chopped
1-2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning (adjust to taste)
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Pinch of salt (optional, as Cajun seasoning can be salty)
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice (optional, for extra tang)

Instructions

Step 1: In a medium bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sour cream, and buttermilk. Whisk until smooth and well combined.
Step 2: Add the finely chopped fresh dill, parsley, and chives to the bowl. Stir them in evenly.
Step 3: Add 1 tablespoon of Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Start with 1 tablespoon of Cajun seasoning and taste before adding more.
Step 4: Whisk all the ingredients together thoroughly until the Cajun seasoning is fully incorporated and the dressing is uniform in color. If using, add the fresh lemon juice now.
Step 5: Taste the dressing. If you prefer more spice, add another tablespoon (or less) of Cajun seasoning. Add a pinch of salt if needed, but be mindful of the salt content in your Cajun seasoning.
Step 6: Cover the bowl or transfer the dressing to an airtight container. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and develop. This also helps the dressing thicken slightly. For optimal flavor, refrigerate for a few hours. To store the dressing, I often use Basics Glass Food Storage containers, which keep it fresh for longer.
Step 7: Serve chilled and enjoy your homemade cajun ranch dressing with your favorite dishes!

Notes

For best results, allow the dressing to chill for at least 2 hours before serving. This gives the flavors time to fully develop. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5-7 days. Adjust Cajun seasoning to your preferred spice level.
