Description

Discover the ultimate recipe for perfectly chewy chocolate chip cookies with crisp edges and gooey centers. This timeless classic is easy to make and guaranteed to be a crowd-pleaser for any occasion. A beloved staple among various cookie recipes.

Ingredients

Scale

1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
1 cup (200g) packed light brown sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 1/4 cups (270g) all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups (340g) semi-sweet chocolate chips (or a mix of your favorite)

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
Step 2: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar using an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
Step 3: Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Step 4: In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
Step 5: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined. Do not overmix.
Step 6: Fold in the chocolate chips with a spatula until evenly distributed.
Step 7: Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches between each cookie.
Step 8: Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown but the centers still look slightly soft.
Step 9: Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Step 10: Store cooled cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3-4 days.

Notes

For best results, do not overmix the dough. You can also chill the dough for at least 30 minutes (or up to 24 hours) for a richer flavor and chewier texture. If chilling, allow the dough to sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes before baking. A sprinkle of flaky sea salt on top right after baking enhances the flavor beautifully.
