Description

An incredibly easy-to-make, tangy, and rich dill pickle dip, perfect for parties, snacks, or gifts. Made with cream cheese, sour cream, and plenty of fresh dill, it’s a crowd-pleaser that stores beautifully in a jar.

Ingredients

Scale

8 oz (226g) cream cheese, softened
1 cup (240g) sour cream (full-fat recommended)
1 cup (approx. 150g) dill pickles, finely diced and patted dry
1/4 cup fresh dill, finely chopped
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional, for a kick)
1-2 tablespoons pickle brine (from the jar of pickles)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

Step 1: Finely dice the dill pickles. Place them on several layers of paper towels and gently press to remove as much excess moisture as possible. Set aside.
Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and sour cream. Using an electric mixer or a sturdy whisk, beat until the mixture is completely smooth and free of any lumps.
Step 3: Add the drained diced pickles, chopped fresh dill, garlic powder, onion powder, and optional cayenne pepper to the cream cheese mixture.
Step 4: Pour in 1 tablespoon of the reserved pickle brine. Mix all ingredients thoroughly until well combined. Taste and add the second tablespoon of brine if you desire more tang or a slightly thinner consistency.
Step 5: Season the Creamy Dill Pickle Dip with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Start with a small amount of salt, as pickles are already salty.
Step 6: Transfer the finished Creamy Dill Pickle Dip into clean, airtight jars. Seal the jars and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld and intensify.
Step 7: Before serving, give the dip a good stir. Garnish with a sprig of fresh dill or a few extra pickle pieces if desired. Serve chilled with your favorite crackers, chips, or fresh vegetables.

Notes

For the best flavor, let the dip chill for at least 2 hours, or even overnight. This allows the flavors to fully meld. Always pat your diced pickles dry to avoid a watery dip. Store any leftover Creamy Dill Pickle Dip in a Jar in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
