Description
A remarkably easy-to-make, zingy, and rich creamy horseradish sauce recipe that perfectly complements roast beef, sandwiches, and much more. Fresh, customizable, and far superior to store-bought versions.
Ingredients
1/2 cup (120g) sour cream
1/2 cup (120g) mayonnaise
3-4 tablespoons prepared horseradish, drained (adjust to taste)
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1/4 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
1/8 teaspoon black pepper (or to taste)
Instructions
Step 1: In a medium-sized bowl, combine the sour cream and mayonnaise. Use a whisk to blend them together until smooth and uniform.
Step 2: Add the prepared horseradish to the sour cream and mayonnaise mixture. Start with 3 tablespoons and adjust later for desired heat.
Step 3: Squeeze in the fresh lemon juice, ensuring no seeds fall into the mixture.
Step 4: Add the Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper to the bowl.
Step 5: Whisk all the ingredients together thoroughly until they are well combined and the sauce is smooth.
Step 6: Taste the sauce and adjust seasonings. Add more horseradish for extra heat, or more salt/pepper if needed.
Step 7: Cover the bowl and refrigerate the creamy horseradish sauce for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and deepen before serving.
Notes
For the best flavor, allow the sauce to chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving. This helps the flavors meld beautifully. You can store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 1-2 weeks.
