Description
A foolproof guide to crafting a perfectly balanced and refreshing classic margarita at home with fresh ingredients.
Ingredients
2 oz (60ml) Blanco Tequila
1 oz (30ml) Fresh Lime Juice
0.75 oz (22ml) Orange Liqueur (e.g., Cointreau)
0.25-0.5 oz Agave Nectar or Simple Syrup (optional, for sweeter taste)
Coarse salt (for rim, optional)
Ice
Lime wheel or wedge (for garnish)
Instructions
Step 1: If desired, prepare a salted rim by rubbing a lime wedge around the rim of your chosen glass, then invert onto a plate of coarse salt.
Step 2: In a cocktail shaker, combine the Blanco tequila, fresh lime juice, orange liqueur, and optional agave nectar or simple syrup.
Step 3: Fill the shaker generously with fresh ice. Ensure it's packed to get maximum chill.
Step 4: Securely place the lid on the shaker and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds, until the outside of the shaker is frosty cold.
Step 5: Strain the mixture into your prepared glass filled with fresh ice. Do not use the ice from the shaker to avoid dilution.
Step 6: Garnish with a fresh lime wheel or wedge and serve immediately.
Notes
For an extra cold drink, chill your cocktail glasses in the freezer beforehand. Adjust the amount of orange liqueur or add agave nectar to suit your preferred level of sweetness.
