Description

Discover how to make the perfect classic fresh margarita recipe with premium ingredients and expert tips for a balanced, zesty, and refreshing cocktail that will impress everyone.

Ingredients

Scale

2 oz (60ml) 100% agave blanco tequila
1 oz (30ml) fresh lime juice (from 2-3 limes)
0.75 oz (22ml) orange liqueur (Cointreau or good quality triple sec)
Coarse salt, for rim (optional)
Ice cubes
Lime wheel or wedge, for garnish

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare your glass. Take a lime wedge and run it around the rim of your preferred margarita or rocks glass. Invert the glass onto a shallow plate of coarse salt (sea salt or Kosher salt works best) to create an even salted rim. Set aside.
Step 2: In a cocktail shaker, combine 2 ounces (60ml) of 100% agave blanco tequila, 1 ounce (30ml) of fresh lime juice, and 0.75 ounce (22ml) of orange liqueur (Cointreau or a good quality triple sec).
Step 3: Fill the shaker generously with ice cubes. Ensure there's enough ice to chill the drink thoroughly.
Step 4: Securely place the lid on the shaker and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds. You want to hear the ice clinking against the sides and feel the shaker become icy cold. This ensures proper dilution and chilling for your fresh margarita recipe.
Step 5: Strain the freshly mixed margarita into your prepared, salt-rimmed glass filled with fresh ice.
Step 6: Garnish with a fresh lime wheel or wedge. Serve immediately and enjoy your perfectly crafted fresh margarita recipe!

Notes

For best results, always use freshly squeezed lime juice. Adjust the amount of orange liqueur to your sweetness preference. For a less sweet drink, you can reduce the orange liqueur by 0.25 oz (7ml) or add a tiny splash of simple syrup if you prefer it sweeter.
