Description
An incredibly easy and delicious glazed carrots recipe featuring tender carrots coated in a shimmering, buttery-sweet glaze. Perfect for holidays or a simple weeknight side.
Ingredients
1 lb fresh carrots, peeled and sliced
2 tbsp unsalted butter
2-3 tbsp brown sugar (or maple syrup)
1-2 tbsp water
Pinch of salt
Optional: fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
Instructions
Step 1: Wash and peel the carrots. Slice them into 1/2-inch thick rounds or diagonal pieces for even cooking.
Step 2: Bring a medium pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add the prepared carrots and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until they are tender-crisp but still have a slight bite. Drain thoroughly.
Step 3: In a large skillet or frying pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the brown sugar (or maple syrup), 1-2 tablespoons of water, and a pinch of salt. Stir continuously until the sugar dissolves and the mixture begins to simmer, forming a syrupy glaze.
Step 4: Add the drained carrots to the skillet. Toss gently to coat them evenly with the glaze. Continue to cook for another 5-8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the carrots are heated through, perfectly tender, and beautifully coated in a thick, glossy glaze.
Step 5: Remove from heat. If desired, stir in fresh chopped parsley or a squeeze of orange juice. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Serve your delicious glazed carrots recipe hot.
Notes
For an extra depth of flavor, you can add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the glaze. Ensure carrots are cooked to tender-crisp, not mushy, before glazing for the best texture. This glazed carrots recipe is very adaptable!
