Description

These juicy, flavor-packed Greek Chicken Burgers are a healthy and delicious taste of the Mediterranean, perfect for a quick weeknight meal or a casual gathering. Made with lean ground chicken, fresh herbs, tangy feta, and bright lemon, they're incredibly versatile and satisfying.

Ingredients

Scale

1 lb (450g) lean ground chicken
1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese
1/4 cup finely diced red onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped
2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
1/4 cup breadcrumbs (or almond flour for gluten-free)
1 large egg
1 teaspoon lemon zest
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil, for cooking

Instructions

Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, gently combine the ground chicken, crumbled feta cheese, finely diced red onion, minced garlic, chopped fresh dill, chopped fresh parsley, breadcrumbs, egg, lemon zest, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
Step 2: Divide the mixture into four equal portions and gently form them into patties, about 3/4-inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to help them cook evenly.
Step 3: Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is shimmering, carefully place the chicken patties in the skillet. Cook in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding.
Step 4: Cook the burgers for 5-7 minutes per side, or until they are golden brown on the outside and cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
Step 5: While the burgers are cooking, prepare your desired toppings such as homemade tzatziki, fresh lettuce, sliced tomatoes, and cucumber.
Step 6: Remove the cooked burgers from the skillet and let them rest for a couple of minutes before serving. This allows the juices to redistribute, ensuring a tender and moist burger.
Step 7: Assemble your burgers: Place a patty on a pita or bun, then generously top with tzatziki, lettuce, tomato, and cucumber. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

For best results, use fresh, high-quality ingredients. If you don't have fresh dill or parsley, you can substitute with 1 teaspoon of dried herbs for each tablespoon of fresh, but the flavor will be less vibrant. These burgers are also fantastic grilled!
