Description
An elevated classic, this garlic grilled cheese combines crispy bread, gooey melted cheese, and aromatic garlic butter for the ultimate comfort food experience.
Ingredients
8 slices of bread (French or sourdough recommended)
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
½ teaspoon salt
Optional: pinch of red pepper flakes
Instructions
Step 1: In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir until well combined.
Step 2: Take your slices of bread and spread the garlic butter mixture generously on one side of each piece.
Step 3: Flip four of the buttered slices so the buttered side is facing down. Pile on a mix of shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese.
Step 4: Top with the remaining four slices of bread, buttered side out, to form sandwiches. Press down lightly to help everything stick together.
Step 5: Preheat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat for 1-2 minutes.
Step 6: Place the sandwiches in the pan, buttered side down. Cook for about 3-4 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula. Flip once the underside is golden and toasty. Cook the other side until equally golden and the cheese inside is fully melted and bubbly.
Step 7: Remove from the skillet and let them rest for about a minute. Cut in half and serve warm immediately.
Notes
For an extra twist, try adding thin slices of caramelized onion or a sprinkle of dried herbs to the garlic butter. Serve with a side of tomato soup or a light salad.
