Description

Discover how to make the ultimate Karak Chai at home! This rich, creamy, and spicy tea recipe brings the authentic flavors of the Middle East right to your kitchen, perfect for a cozy morning or a comforting treat.

Ingredients

Scale

1.5 cups water
4-5 green cardamom pods, lightly crushed
1-inch piece fresh ginger, peeled and thinly sliced/grated
2-3 whole cloves (optional)
2 tablespoons strong black tea leaves (Assam or Ceylon recommended)
1 cup evaporated milk (or full-fat dairy milk)
2-3 tablespoons sugar, or to taste

Instructions

Step 1: In a medium saucepan, combine the water, crushed cardamom pods, ginger slices, and whole cloves (if using). Bring this mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.
Step 2: Reduce heat to medium and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes, allowing the spices to infuse the water thoroughly.
Step 3: Add the black tea leaves to the simmering spice mixture. Reduce the heat to medium-low and let it simmer for another 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Step 4: Pour in the evaporated milk (or full-fat milk) and add the sugar. Stir well to combine all ingredients.
Step 5: Increase the heat slightly to bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then immediately reduce the heat to low. Simmer for an additional 5-10 minutes, stirring frequently, until the chai has a rich color and creamy consistency. Do not allow it to boil vigorously.
Step 6: Taste and adjust for sweetness or spice if desired, simmering for another minute after adjustments.
Step 7: Carefully strain the Karak Chai through a fine-mesh sieve directly into your serving cups, pressing the solids to extract all liquid.
Step 8: Serve hot and enjoy your homemade Authentic Karak Chai Recipe immediately.

Notes

For an extra frothy texture, you can vigorously whisk the chai before serving or use an immersion blender for a few seconds. Always use fresh spices for the best flavor. This Karak Chai Recipe can be doubled or tripled for larger gatherings.
