Description
Indulge in restaurant-quality lobster tails at home with this foolproof broiled lobster tail recipe featuring a rich, aromatic garlic herb butter. Quick, easy, and incredibly delicious!
Ingredients
2 (6-7 oz) cold-water lobster tails, thawed
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
1 tbsp fresh chives, chopped
1 tsp fresh lemon juice
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp black pepper
Lemon wedges, for serving (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your broiler to high and position an oven rack 6-8 inches from the heat source. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
Step 2: Prepare the lobster tails: Using sturdy kitchen shears, cut lengthwise through the top center of the hard shell, from the wide end down to the fan-like tail. Be careful not to cut through the meat or the bottom shell.
Step 3: Gently pry open the shell and loosen the meat from the sides of the shell. Lift the meat through the opening, resting it on top of the shell, creating a 'butterfly' effect. Place the butterflied tails on the prepared baking sheet.
Step 4: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, chopped chives, fresh lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until well combined.
Step 5: Spoon about half of the garlic herb butter mixture evenly over the top of the lobster meat on both tails. Ensure the meat is well coated.
Step 6: Place the baking sheet under the preheated broiler. Broil for 8-12 minutes, depending on the size of your tails, or until the lobster meat is opaque, firm, and the shells are bright red. A 6-7 ounce tail usually takes 8-10 minutes. Avoid overcooking to prevent tough meat.
Step 7: Remove the lobster tails from the oven. Drizzle the remaining garlic herb butter over the cooked lobster meat.
Step 8: Garnish with fresh lemon wedges and an extra sprinkle of fresh herbs, if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious lobster tail recipe!
Notes
For the best results, ensure your lobster tails are completely thawed before cooking. Adjust broiling time based on the size of your tails; smaller tails will cook faster. You can also add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the butter for a little heat!
