Description

A surprisingly delicious and tangy twist on classic lemonade, combining the zing of lemons with the savory, briny kick of pickle juice. Perfect for a hot day!

Ingredients

Scale

1 cup fresh lemon juice (from about 4-6 lemons)
1 cup dill pickle juice (from a jar of dill pickles or store-bought brine)
1 cup simple syrup (1 cup granulated sugar dissolved in 1 cup water, then cooled)
3 cups cold water
Ice, for serving
Lemon slices and pickle spears, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: If not using pre-made simple syrup, prepare it first. In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup granulated sugar with 1 cup water. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool completely before using.
Step 2: Squeeze fresh lemon juice. Roll lemons on a counter to maximize juice extraction. Cut lemons in half and extract 1 cup of fresh lemon juice using a juicer. Strain to remove any seeds or large pulp.
Step 3: In a large pitcher, combine the fresh lemon juice, the cooled simple syrup, and the dill pickle juice. Stir well to combine all ingredients.
Step 4: Add 3 cups of cold water to the pitcher and stir again. Taste the Pickle Lemonade and adjust the sweetness, tartness, or pickle flavor to your preference by adding more simple syrup, lemon juice, or pickle juice.
Step 5: Cover the pitcher and refrigerate the Pickle Lemonade for at least 1-2 hours, or until thoroughly chilled. This allows the flavors to meld beautifully.
Step 6: To serve, fill glasses with ice. Pour the chilled Pickle Lemonade over the ice. Garnish with a fresh lemon slice and a dill pickle spear, if desired. Enjoy immediately!

Notes

For best results, use a good quality dill pickle juice, not sweet pickle juice. Adjust sweetness to your preference. This Pickle Lemonade is fantastic for rehydration due to the electrolytes from the pickle brine.
