Description

Experience the quintessential taste of the tropics with this perfectly balanced classic pina colada recipe. Creamy coconut, tangy pineapple, and smooth rum blend into an irresistible frosty escape that transports you to paradise with every sip.

Ingredients

Scale

4 oz (120ml) white rum (or omit for virgin)
6 oz (180ml) unsweetened pineapple juice, chilled
4 oz (120ml) cream of coconut (e.g., Coco Lopez), chilled
1 cup (150g) frozen pineapple chunks
1/2 cup (120g) ice cubes
Fresh pineapple wedge, for garnish
Maraschino cherry, for garnish

Instructions

Step 1: Gather your ingredients. Ensure your pineapple juice and cream of coconut are chilled.
Step 2: In a high-powered blender, combine the white rum (if using), chilled unsweetened pineapple juice, chilled cream of coconut, frozen pineapple chunks, and ice cubes.
Step 3: Secure the lid on your blender and start blending on a low speed, gradually increasing to high. Blend until the mixture is completely smooth and no ice chunks remain. Scrape down the sides if necessary.
Step 4: Once smooth, pour your perfectly blended pina colada into two hurricane glasses or large chilled glasses.
Step 5: Garnish each drink with a fresh pineapple wedge and a maraschino cherry.
Step 6: Serve immediately and enjoy your homemade tropical escape.

Notes

For the best flavor and texture, use cream of coconut, not regular coconut milk. Adjust sweetness to your preference by adding a touch more pineapple juice or a splash of simple syrup if desired. Chilling all liquid ingredients beforehand helps maintain a colder, thicker consistency.
