Description

This incredibly easy slow cooker bbq chicken recipe yields tender, juicy shredded chicken smothered in a smoky, sweet, and tangy barbecue sauce. Perfect for sandwiches, bowls, or as a main dish, it's a family-friendly meal with minimal effort.


Ingredients

2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)
1 ½ cups your favorite BBQ sauce
¼ cup apple cider vinegar
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp brown sugar (light or dark)
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp smoked paprika
½ tsp chili powder (optional, for a kick)
Salt and black pepper to taste


Instructions

Step 1: Place the chicken breasts at the bottom of your slow cooker. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
Step 2: In a medium bowl, whisk together the barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and chili powder (if using) until well combined.
Step 3: Pour the sauce mixture evenly over the chicken in the slow cooker, ensuring all pieces are coated.
Step 4: Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is very tender and easily shredded with a fork.
Step 5: Carefully remove the cooked chicken from the slow cooker and transfer it to a cutting board. Using two forks, shred the chicken into bite-sized pieces.
Step 6: Return the shredded chicken to the slow cooker, tossing it thoroughly with the remaining BBQ sauce. Stir to ensure every piece is coated.
