Description

A quick and easy pizza recipe using store-bought puff pastry, perfect for a customizable, crispy weeknight meal ready in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
1/2 cup pizza sauce or marinara
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
1/4 cup desired toppings (e.g., pepperoni, sliced bell peppers, mushrooms)
Optional: 1/4 tsp dried oregano or Italian seasoning

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 2: Carefully unfold the thawed puff pastry sheet onto the prepared baking sheet. If the edges crack, gently press them back together. You can lightly score a border about 1/2 inch from the edge with a knife – this helps create a lovely puffed crust.
Step 3: Prick the center of the puff pastry all over with a fork. This prevents the center from puffing up too much and helps ensure an even bake.
Step 4: Spread your chosen tomato sauce evenly over the pricked area of the puff pastry, leaving the scored border clear. A thin layer is best to avoid a soggy crust.
Step 5: Sprinkle about half (3/4 cup) of your mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
Step 6: Arrange your desired toppings over the cheese. Don't go overboard with toppings; a light hand ensures the pastry bakes properly and stays crispy. Sprinkle with optional dried oregano.
Step 7: Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese (3/4 cup) over the toppings.
Step 8: Bake in the preheated oven for 18-25 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden brown and puffed up around the edges, and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Step 9: Once baked, carefully remove the pizza from the oven. Let it cool for 2-3 minutes before slicing. This allows the cheese to set slightly, making for cleaner slices.

Notes

Feel free to get creative with your toppings! Pre-cook any meats or high-moisture vegetables before adding them to prevent a soggy crust. Serve immediately for best crispiness.
