Ingredients
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
2 cups granulated sugar
4 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (plus more for decorating)
Halloween sprinkles or candies for decoration (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides.
Step 2: In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar until well combined.
Step 3: Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and glossy.
Step 4: In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
Step 5: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix. Fold in the chocolate chips.
Step 6: Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
Step 7: Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs (not wet batter).
Step 8: Let the brownies cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before lifting out and cutting into squares.
Step 9: Once cooled, decorate with Halloween sprinkles, candies, or spooky frosting designs as desired.
