2-3 tablespoons hot water (175°F/80°C)
1 cup milk of choice (dairy or non-dairy)
Ice cubes
Optional: fresh strawberry slice or mint sprig for garnish


Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Strawberry Puree: In a small bowl, combine hulled and sliced strawberries with sugar. Mash gently with a fork or muddler until strawberries release their juices and form a chunky puree. Adjust sugar to your preferred sweetness.
Step 2: Whisk the Matcha: In a separate small bowl, add matcha powder. Pour 2-3 tablespoons of hot water (not boiling, approx. 175°F/80°C) over the matcha. Whisk vigorously with a bamboo whisk (chasen) or small electric whisk until smooth and frothy, ensuring no lumps remain.
Step 3: Assemble the Latte: Spoon the prepared strawberry puree into the bottom of a tall glass.
Step 4: Add Ice: Fill the glass with ice cubes, almost to the top.
Step 5: Pour Milk: Slowly pour 1 cup of your preferred milk over the ice, creating a distinct layer above the strawberries.
Step 6: Add Matcha: Gently pour the whisked matcha tea over the milk layer.
Step 7: Serve: Stir gently before enjoying to combine the layers. Garnish with a fresh strawberry slice or mint sprig if desired.

Notes
