Description
A deliciously simple and incredibly healthy recipe for strawberry overnight oats that transforms your morning routine. Creamy, fruity, and packed with nutrients, it's the perfect make-ahead breakfast for busy days.
Ingredients
1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats (not instant)
1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy like almond, soy, or oat milk)
1/2 cup fresh or frozen (thawed) strawberries, chopped or mashed
1-2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey (to taste)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
1 tablespoon chia seeds (optional, for extra thickness and nutrition)
Pinch of salt (optional, enhances flavor)
Instructions
Step 1: In a clean jar (preferably wide-mouthed) or a small bowl, add the rolled oats, milk, maple syrup (or honey), vanilla extract (if using), chia seeds (if using), and a tiny pinch of salt.
Step 2: Stir all the ingredients together thoroughly until the oats are fully submerged and evenly mixed with the liquid and sweetener.
Step 3: If using fresh strawberries, hull them and chop them into small pieces. You can either gently stir about half of the chopped strawberries into the oat mixture or reserve them for topping.
Step 4: If using frozen strawberries, thaw them slightly and chop. You can also mash them for a more vibrant pink color and integrated strawberry flavor throughout your overnight oats.
Step 5: Cover the jar or bowl tightly with a lid or plastic wrap.
Step 6: Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the oats to soften and absorb the liquid, creating a creamy texture.
Step 7: The next morning, give the strawberry overnight oats a good stir. If it's too thick for your liking, add a splash more milk until you reach your desired consistency. Top with the remaining fresh strawberries and any other desired toppings before serving. Enjoy your quick and delicious strawberry overnight oats!
Notes
For an extra boost of flavor and nutrition, consider blending half of the strawberries with the milk before combining with the oats. This creates a beautifully pink and intensely strawberry-flavored base. Always use old-fashioned rolled oats for the best texture.
